Enquête over manga en anime voor school

Hoi allemaal!
Voor school moet ik een project doen. Ik ga onderzoek doen naar de opkomst en populariteit van manga en anime in Nederland. Daarom zou ik het erg waarderen als je deze enquête invult. Je kunt hem mailen naar wingless17@gmail.com. Ik heb de enquête in twee talen gemaakt, omdat ik hem in het Engels in moet leveren. (Ik doe tweetalig onderwijs.) Ik heb het liefst dat je de Engelse versie invult, maar het is natuurlijk geen probleem als je liever de Nederlandse invult. Als je bijvoorbeeld geen anime kijkt, maar wel manga’s leest (of andersom), zou ik graag horen waarom. Dit kun je bij de laatste vraag zeggen. Als je verder nog tips en/of ideeën hebt, hoor ik die ook graag. Alvast bedankt!

What is your age? I'm 18 years old.
When and how did your first hear about manga and/or anime? The first pure anime I saw was Pokémon when I was about 9, but I only found out it was called anime when I was 11 years old and I had a book about Pokémon explaining Japanese animation is called anime.
How long have you been reading manga and/or watching anime? I've been watching anime since I'm 9 years old. I don't read manga yet.
What made you so interested in it? It's just awesome like that.
In what language do you prefer to watch anime and why? Japanese audio and English subtitles. The audio is the original and English is the richest language in the world, so it's best suited to translate a language in.
In what language do you prefer to read manga and why? English, for the same reason I prefer English subtitles.
Which genre do you like the best and why? Action, I prefer not being bored and having something to be fixed to the screen.
Name one or more anime series and manga series which you liked, or which you think are nice. Why did you like these? Why do you think these are nice? Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuiokuhen, the art is beautiful and the plot is captivating. The ending is breath-taking and one might call this one of the finest pieces of art ever produced.

When and how did your first hear about manga and/or anime? A friend of mine started dearing Manga, so I borrowed one, and got more or less addicted, and from there on I also started to watch Animé.
How long have you been reading manga and/or watching anime? really, about 2 years ago (and then I Don't count pokémon and stuff).
What made you so interested in it? At first the drawings, after that came the stories.
In what language do you prefer to watch anime and why? Japanese with english subtitles. For some reason english animé annoy me, the fake voices I guess.
In what language do you prefer to read manga and why? English, it's easier, with not everything being translated.
Which genre do you like the best and why? Shoujo, but when I like the storie or the art i'll practically read everything

Wanneer en hoe hoorde je voor het eerst van manga en/of anime? Ongeveer 1 jaar geleden volgensmij.
Hoe lang lees/kijk je al manga’s/anime’s? Manga’s lees ik al vanaf een jaar geleden, pas ongeveer een half jaar later begon ik Anime te kijken ^^
Wat interesseert je er zo aan? Het ziet er gewoon mooi uit en… verder heb ik echt geen idee waarom.
In welke taal kijk je het liefste anime en waarom? Japans met Engelse ondertiteling. Nederlandse ondertiteling klopt meestal voor geen meter en Japans gesproken kijkt het fijnst.
In welke taal lees je het liefste manga en waarom? In het Nederlands, maar het zou mij niets uit maken of het Engels was geweest. De plek waar ik altijd manga koop, verkopen ze alleen Nederlandse.
Welk genre vind je het leukst en waarom? Bij manga wil ik het liefst een verhaal met veel actiescènes. Bij Anime wil ik liever iets zoals Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni: psychologie en moord.

When and how did your first hear about manga and/or anime? Well, I used to be a big fan of the good old Foxkids shows, like Pokémon and Digimon and once I looked them up on the internet and found out they were all from Japan (That was a big shock). From that moment, I knew what anime was, but it wasn't until a few years ago that I began to actively search for it.
How long have you been reading manga and/or watching anime? Well, besides the kiddie shows, I think I've been watching anime for about four years and reading manga for about two.
What made you so interested in it? The drawing/animation style is just very pretty, the stories are very diverse (I mean, try to find a similarity between Cardcaptor Sakura and Monster.) and often very deep. :3
In what language do you prefer to watch anime and why? Japanese, English subs, because I just dislike American accents...
In what language do you prefer to read manga and why? Dutch, I don't have to use too much braincells for that...
Which genre do you like the best and why? I'd watch anything.

En hoeveel van die woorden heb je nodig om de gemiddelde shounen manga te vertalen? Bar weinig. Onze kale taal dekt de basis net zo goed en dat is in de meeste gevallen alles wat je nodig hebt.

When and how did your first hear about manga and/or anime?

seven years ago when I was watching television and was introduced to Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura. Later on I first saw DBZ

How long have you been reading manga and/or watching anime?

five years ago I first started buying manga and watch anime.

What made you so interested in it?

The story behind Sailor Moon. When the show stopped being shown on tv I started to look for it on the internet and found out that it was a japanese show. I then started watching because I wanted to make my own comic involving such 'beautiful' characters and art.

In what language do you prefer to watch anime and why?

Japanese. It's more clear that way. The anime is from Japan so to truly understand what is going on I feel I should watch it in Japanese.

In what language do you prefer to read manga and why?

English. Dutch translation somewhat kills the story. And since I can't read the japanese characters, understand german or french, that leaves me with english. Usually english manga stays true to the japanese version (except for Battle Vixens, unfortunately)

Which genre do you like the best and why?

Action, shounen. I love the way the girls look in those manga (for example Battle vixens, Claymore, etc) Girls are incredibly strong there and can fight better than most guys introduced.

Name one or more anime series and manga series which you liked, or which you think are nice. Why did you like these? Why do you think these are nice?

Claymore: Because of the strong characters. They all have their own tale to tell.

Ikkitousen: Each girl (if you ignore the fanservice) have got their own emotional problems to deal with which sometimes come close to what we have to deal with. Being in love with someone who uses you, fears, fighting, pressure, etc

Death Note: The whole concept behind a note book that can kill is interesting. I've been able to introduce anime to a lot of people because of that show/manga. It's an original story which makes you consider whether you would kill if you had the power or not. It's the only show I know would make a reader/watcher wonder whether they support the evil side or the good side.

High school girls (manga): Because it's hilarious. You've got characters who seem to be complete morons and characters who are too smart for their own good. Put together they're a lot of fun. It's something different from the usual manga's around here. Nothing that can be taken too seriously and is a good read for when you're in a bad mood

Anything else?
People who say Anime and Manga is for children should try to watch atleast Death Note or something into that direction. I'm sure 8 of the 10 people change their opinion afterwards. I know I messed up an anti-anime/manga guy's life by showing him the Death Note manga. He's now buying, collecting and watching more than I do

Welk genre vind je het leukst en waarom? Drama/Horror, Drama omdat je soms wel es mag huilen en Horror gewoon omdat da vet is xD

- Hajime no Ippo, dit is een typische boks anime, gewoon heerlijk om even bij weg te dromen
- Tekken, the anime, Gewoon omdat je het spel spontaan heel wa beter begrijpt haha
- Ouran High School Host Club, I just love Tamaki xD lekkere bi-seksuele kerel, die zo uit de hoogte doet, En Hunny is schattugh
- Soul Eater, Lekker onzinnug!

When and how did your first hear about manga and/or anime?
It was around the great Dragonball Z hype around the year 2002. Everybody talked about that show and i soon learned that Dragonball was anime and became intrested and started to download other anime shows and movies.

How long have you been reading manga and/or watching anime?
For about 7 years now.

What made you so interested in it?
At first i was impressed about the action and violence in the shows and movies i watched back then.

In what language do you prefer to watch anime and why?
I prefer to watch anime in japanes or english.

In what language do you prefer to read manga and why?
Dutch. Dutch manga's are cheaper then the American imports.

Monster (manga)
Monster has the most exciting story i've read so far in any comic book. Everytime i finish a volume it makes me want to run to the comic book store to buy the next one. Next to the story it features great artwork and is easy to read and understand because of the absence of specific japanese cultural influences with the exception of the artwork.

Cowboy Beebop (anime)
Cowboy Beebop excells at almost every aspect of animated telivision. The series features great characters and have a perfect mix of action and humor. Also the music and animation are outstanding.

What makes anime and manga truly fun is the option to share your intrest with the scene.

Saw: One Piece, it's the first serie for me to know. And it's one of the two things that helped me out my depression. Therefore it's special to me.
Read: Kodocha & Rosario+Vampire
Kodocha is just cute, and has a good story. And Rosario+Vampire I like because it's funny and I like monsters.
